Born in 1961 to Iranian parents, Ali Azarmi grew up in Tehran. In 1973 he went to school in England and later studied Art & Design for 7 years, graduating in 1985 with BA Hons from London University (LCP).

He started experimenting with various media and often broke the standard rules in search of new possibilities often crossing the boundaries of photography and fine art. In 1987 he started work as an Art Director in Advertising and then became Creative Director of BBDO Dubai. During this period he became very advanced in digital art techniques which added significantly to his repertoire.

Although Ali’s Art is diverse, it has always remained spontaneous and experimental. “I do not know where or how the work begins but I know when it is finished”. His art is the art of Aesthetics from the subconscious, seeing and appreciating the beauty in everything, from decaying textures to natural or man made structures.  There is a sense of romantic spiritualism that underlies all his work.
