Sajnani is a self-taught artist with an M.Litt. in Management, Economics and International Relations from St. Andrews University, Scotland.
Born in India, Ayushy’s journey began in 1994 with a fascination for portraits from different cultures. Having lived in Dubai for over 20 years, her art has evolved, deepened and shaped with the growing landscape of Dubai. Her paintings depict the old and the new, expressed with dramatic colours. Each canvas has a story to tell of unimaginable progress and of the ingenuity of the human mind. Her paintings also tell of a struggle of how individuals are finding themselves and their identities in the midst of this growing landscape. In fact, it’s a very personal story of her own struggle to find her identity.
Inspired by masters such as Jackson Pollock, Marc Chagall and Andy Warhol, coupled with her fascination for Islamic architecture, textile and calligraphy, her canvasses come alive with rich layers of translucent colour; windows to the inner depths of her journey in life.
She has held many successful exhibitions in Dubai and continues to teach through workshops all over the Emirates.
